VeganMoFo 2014 is here. This is my third time participating, and I’m so excited!
I love feeling like I am a part of the larger vegan community out there, and also especially love supporting vegan authors and other vegan endeavors. So for this year’s VeganMoFo, I’m blending all of these things together by pulling out 10 of my favorite cookbooks from my ever-growing cookbook collection, selecting one recipe from each and describing the experience of making and tasting it in full detail. Out of respect for the author’s hard-earned work (and to be compliant with copyright laws!) I won’t be posting the actual recipe, but you will see the end product, shot by my husband, Jeff, who does all the photography for the blog.
I am especially looking forward to immersing myself in each of the author’s own unique culinary point of view and style and sharing that here throughout the month of September! This month’s posts will include recipes from my 10 favorite cookbooks, which are:
Candle 79 Cookbook: Modern Vegan Classics from New York’s Premier Sustainable Restaurant | by Joy Pierson, Angel Ramos and Jorge Pineda
The Conscious Cook: Delicious Meatless Recipes That Will Change the Way You Eat | by Tal Ronnnen

I'm watching your blog more eagerly than ever.. I have several of these books and have only made a few (if any) recipes from them. Can't wait!

I was basically going to say the same thing Babette did – except I made the black eyed pea patties (or whatever it was called)
Babette says
Dawn : you recommend those patties? It's more than time I try something new, and I certainly need more black-eyed peas recipes.

I like your theme and I can't wait to see what you will cook from Vegan Soul Kitchen. I've had that book for a couple fo years and am really enthusiastic about it, and about the accompanying soundtrack, but yet I've only made the cabbage side dish (but at least 4 times).

You must make the black bean soup with creme fraiche and cornbread from Candle 79. It is to die for! The creme fraiche is one of the best vegan finds I have come across. We use it on so many things! It's like sour cream but oh so much better!!! Jill

I love this theme so much! I'm planning to do this just in general once I get back home from the summer. Way too much eating out. I always buy great cookbooks and then cook from Pinterest instead, hah. Looking forward to your posts!

Such a great idea! I tend not to cook tons out of my cookbooks, despite the fact that I too have a growing collection. Out of this list, I have Vegan Soul Kitchen, Crazy Sexy Kitchen, Vegan Brunch, Vedge and I just gave my boyfriend the Sriracha book. The red lentil soup from Crazy Sexy Kitchen is absolutely divine. Even if you don't make it for the blog, I highly recommend you make it as the weather gets colder. So satisfying!

Believe it or not, despite being obsessed with vegan cookbooks, I don't own any of these. I look forward to reading your posts about them!
